| Q1/ Will the DiabloChip void my warranty? A1/ The DiabloChip will not void or affect the factory warranty in any way. This is a very misunderstood subject in the aftermarket customer circles. There is a law protecting vehicle owners from just this fraudulent behavior practiced by some automotive dealers. The Magnusson-Moss Warranty- Federal Trade commission Improvement Act of 1975. Under the Magnusson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicles warranty or that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner’s manual under, "what is not covered".DiabloSport will, upon request, send you a copy of the Magnusson-Moss Act.: US Code : Title 15, Chapter 50. Q2/ What performance increase can I expect from my DiabloChip? A2/ Depending on your vehicle and application, a 10-25% increase in horsepower and torque. Unlike some other "tuners", who remap only the lower and higher RPM, DiabloSport redesigns the entire RPM range for even more performance and for a very smooth power band. Every DiabloChip gives a significant increase in power throughout the entire power band, improved throttle response, firmer shift points, and an increase in gas mileage. Q3/ Since the DiabloChip is so superior, why did not the factory design the chip like this? There must be a drawback!?! A3/ The factory chip is programmed for the average driver, average climate, and other factors that need to be considered under a wide range of driving conditions. DiabloSport, knowing that the DiabloChip customer is not the average driver, optimize the tuning to each customers desire.The factors that are involved in the DiabloChip tuning software are: advancement of the timing curve, reconfiguration of the air/fuel mixture and remapping of the transmission shift points. Premium fuel is required to operate and utilize the DiabloChip. This is required because we remap the timing and fuel delivery curves based on premium fuel, which combusts at a more complete and at slower rate. Stock chips are programmed for regular gasoline, which makes for a less aggressive and less efficient timing/fuel curve. Hence the engine is not able to work at optimum levels. Q4/ So, I am required to use high-octane gasoline if I install the DiabloChip. A4/ Yes, (Normal Pump "Premium") that is one of the most critical factors upon how we design our chip. Q5/ Can the DiabloChip damage my engine in any way? A5/ No, through extensive research and sophisticated programming, the parameters used in the DiabloChip tuning software are tested to be within a safe range in normal to heavy operating conditions. Q6/ Will my gas mileage be affected? A6/ Yes, depending on your driving style, the DiabloChip will give an average gain of 0-2MPG in fuel economy. The increase in mileage is directly related to the increase in engine efficiency. Through the advanced timing and improved air/fuel ratio the engine extracts more power out of each molecule of gasoline. Vehicles that are used for towing will notice a significant increase in fuel mileage. Q7/ Will the DiabloChip remove the rev and speed limiter? A7/ The removal or altering of rev and speed limiter is based on application and customer needs. DiabloSport will optimize these values depending upon each individual application. Q8/ How will the DiabloChip affect my transmission? A8/ The DiabloChip changes the transmissions shift points and pressure, i.e. when the computer recognizes aggressive driving it will raise the RPM of the shift points to fully exploit the entire powerband. Under normal driving conditions the shift points remain virtually the same as stock. Q9/ Can I use aftermarket performance accessories with the DiabloChip? A9/ The DiabloChip is custom tunable and will yield even more performance gains with aftermarket modifications. DiabloSport can custom tune a chip for any application and level of performance the customer desires. Custom tuning for vehicles with minor modifications, such as high-flow air filters, cat-back exhaust systems and minor ignition modifications, are usually not necessary. Q10/ Can I install the DiabloChip myself? A10/ The installation of the actual chip itself is as easy as inserting a plug into a wall outlet; the difficult part (on some applications) is to find and/or remove the vehicles computer. The installation procedure varies from each application. The DiabloChip comes complete with detailed step-by-step illustrated instructions. |
